j'aime dimanche.

today is sunday. i am a big fan of sunday routines wherever i am. here in london my routine goes a little something like this:
-hope that other people getting up and moving around in the room wakes me up because i don't have an alarm clock and everyone gets up at different times on sunday. today was a close call. i woke up at 4:00 a.m. and then again at 7:47. i usually shoot for 7:30. (you're welcome for that detail)
-do my hair
-get dressed
-eat toast
-go with hillary, rebecca, and tracy to the london north ward. it is an hour and a half journey by tube and bus. i like it. we're out at east finchley. my ward rocks so much. we're really starting to get to know them and be comfortable in the ward. today we practiced for the primary program. i hold the signs with the words to the songs on them. the kids are adorable. one of these sundays i will devote an entire post to this ward, i'll take pictures of everyone. seriously, these people are outstanding and have the most amazing stories. when i go to church here i'm reminded what the church is all about. they are just so happy to have the church in their life and to come every sunday and be surrounded by people that believe what they do, support them, love them, and to learn about Christ. i love it. today we had a munch and mingle for some people that are moving out of the ward. they do munch and mingles right here (i hate that i used the phrase munch and mingle twice in this blog. now three times. geeeah.) very diverse ward, so we had everything from quiche to mini pizzas to curry. apple tarts, lemon dessert, parfait, peanut butter chocolate fudge. it was like a dream. usually i starve on sundays because we only get dinner at the center and i never remember to buy food for breakfast or dinner the night before. today however. was a feast.

-after church i go to the national portrait gallery. it looks like this:

me and my favorite london location. the national gallery. free art museum of wonder and magic.for humanities every week we have paintings we're assigned to go see either here, the tate modern, the tate britain, the soane museum, etc. we're into 19th-century art now. so lucky me i got to go to the impressionist and post-impressionist exhibits. i've been there many times already because it so happens to be my favorite. some of my favorite paintings they have in this part of the gallery:

wheat field with cypresses, van gogh. there are a number of van gogh's that are fantastic here, including his famous "sunflowers." this photo does no justice to the texture of this painting. it is so thick and really lends to the movement of the clouds and the wheat. i love it.

the thames below westminster, monet
it's of london, it's in the national gallery, and it's a monet. three of my favorite things.

these are just two among many, many, many others. the national gallery is so magical. usually i just wander around for two or three hours, listening to sigur ros or sufjan stevens. today hillary came with me, and it was grand.

hillary on the tube ride home being up to stuff.

back to sunday routine:
-after the national gallery i usually come home and climb the five flights up to my room. our room is usually pitch black on sundays by this time (4:30 or 5:00). now it's because the sun goes down early but before it's because they'd pull the freaking black out curtains over the window. this is because it is officially nap time. most of the room is asleep. i'm most often obliged to join. sunday naps are always very much like comas. usually lindsey or someone has to wake me up for dinner.

-dinner. we eat it. on sundays we get dessert. today it was strawberry cheesecake.
-sunday night: skype with the parents, do homework if i have it, watch a movie, blog, fireside, etc. today we had a meeting. for why?

because we're going to paris tomorrow!!
yoopee yoopee (according to my french professor at byu-idaho this is the french equivalent to hooray. i'm not sure if i believe her. but there it is)

yes. france. yes. i love paris so much. it always gets a bad rap for who knows why. i believe it to be a very magical place.

that says "wish me bonne chance" good luck. in french. wish me good luck in france i'm going!

-after our meeting we all packed and i played the edith piaf version of "la vie en rose" for everyone over and over. and over. you're welcome room 4.

i will not be able to do a post a day while i am in paris, sadly. so until next time,

grosse bises.
bonne semaine.

p.s.

this i just added as a special treat because hailee doesn't read my blog so here she is looking goooood
