last weekend i had a very extreme weekend. it began on thursday when i took the train from work to the gallivan center to see josh ritter and andrew bird in concert. i met alex, amanda, and marcie there. it was so magical. i swear all of the free concerts in my life have been the best (i.e. the first time i saw death cab, yeah yeah yeahs, etc etc). josh ritter was an extremely goofy but jolly man. many of his songs soundtracked this last winter, and it was fantastic to hear them live. and andrew bird. oh man. words can't even describe. a celestial experience. seriously. that man can whistle. and shake his head. and play the violin.

i stole this picture from alex. thanks alex's phone with it's facebook mobile uploads. but there is mr. bird. being wonderful.
right after the concert, which was life changing, i went with amanda and billy to see the midnight showing of batman. good idea and bad idea. i was extremely tired after working and a standing up at a very warm 3 hour outdoor concert. but come on. it's batman, and it's summer. i have not gone to one midnight showing this summer (which is actually a relief because every movie i have seen besides batman would not have been worth a midnight showing.)
anyway. batman. oh my word. the most stressful movie i have ever seen. i spent the whole time with my fingers in my ears and my eyes partially covered. it was a very intense and packed movie. i would like to see it again. my friends went to go see it on the imax tonight. they went to a 10:15 showing however. bad idea for alison who has work. so, for once showing some foresight, i declined.
theeeeen on friday i went with alex, amanda, and billy to bear lake. water activities club for life. we bought floatie toys, kites, way too much food that was terrible, and had ourselves a wonderful weekend.
sorry for the lack of narrative but i'm real tired.
SOO.. (sorry jules i am starting a sentence with "so") i was kind of worn out starting this week. now you may or may not know this about me, but i'm not what most people consider "fun." i am usually pretty stationary and slothful. a good time in the summer to me is sitting in the park and talking (or smooching. but there's been none of that in my life this summer. i digress.) (p.s. just kidding mom i don't kiss. ever.) so, a weekend so full of activity is pretty taxing on an elderly 20almost21insixweeks-year-old like myself. as such, i've been rather fussy this week. i apologize to everyone who has had any contact with me.
some conclusions/observations:
-"venting" is not as good of an idea as people make it out to be. it only makes you more worked up and mad.
- i have a similar theory in telling everybody how you feel or what you think. movies seem to think this is a really good idea. "just tell him how you really feel." no. don't ever do that. because in real life, people don't choose their best friend over the person they're about to marry that day. all you do is make everything really awkward and/or make yourself look like a creeper. wedding movies. they get me.
-the people i work(ed) with are indeed crazier than any of the patients that come in.
-jens lekman knows how to have a good time. he is ideal for sitting out on the porch on a humidish night.
-i have lost my ability to shop. it's convenient for saving money but not convenient for my materialisitc ways.
-falling asleep is hard. not having naps is harder.
-i like to "hour drop" similar to name dropping. except i like to brag about how many hours i worked as if this somehow impresses people. (9.25 today. take that.)
-i do not like when people fight in front of other people/put people "in their place" in front of other people
-i do like having somewhere to sit at work
-strawberries are really nice
-skirts are more comfortable than jeans
-eating out a lot doesn't do a whole lot for one's body image
-cd's are less convenient than ipods
-i have the ability to make half of a cd unplayable (by scratching or who else knows what) in no more than five minutes
that should about do it.
cheers

My friend who is getting married in October rescued me from my overheated car on Saturday (an almost incredible story in itself.) Her roommate asked her what she would do if I told her immediately before the wedding I was deeply in love with her. She laughed and said she'd have to tell me that I was SOL (surely, out of luck.)
I love how everything the movies tell you to do is generally the complete opposite of the proper course of action.
On a completely different note, I was driving through Minneapolis tonight listening to Postal Service and saw your last name on some company's office building, and then it reminded me of that time you said listening to "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight" in downtown DC at night was life changing (or something to that effect.) And then I thought about how I am going there but will be unable to enjoy the same experience and it made me whimper inside.
In case you'd like to know.
I worked 13 hours yesterday. That brings me to a total of 97 hours so far this paycheck, and i've still got 3 days left. Take That!!
my max paycheck was for 137 hours, last summer.
Take that Blake!
