decatur, alligator, aviator, debater, emancipator

sometimes i wonder if maybe i'm the awkward one. i mean it's well known that i'm the alienating-lacking-a-filter-girl-with-the-personality-of-a-grumpy-old-man-(herumph). perhaps all of these awkward, flip flop paddling, baby carrot giving, "do you know what paralysis is?" saying people are the normal ones.

and they snicker about me with their friends when they go home. i could be so disillusioned, and not even know it. which i guess is kind of the point of that word.

i wonder.

i kind of hope so.

in other news, this weekend as delightful. amanda, billy, alden, mystery boy, and myself floated down the provo river. it was epic, as it always is. captain billy lead us courageously through every collision with bushes on the banks and sharp logs in the middle of the river. flip flops were lost but regained. we sang pocahontas. it was magical.

and for kicks, the music in my life lately has consisted of: (because you care)

joanna newsom - milk eyed mender is the best thing of my life. swansea, sadie, and crab cockle cowrie... ahh.. if i gained anything from spending time with mr. lund, i gained a love for joanna newsom. if you hate her, listen to her more. i PROMISE. it'll be good.

andrew bird - mostly in honor of his upcoming free concert at the gallivan center (this THURSDAY!) and also because of his lyrical genius and unmatched whistling ability.

thao nguyen - just been listening to her a great deal. a lot of fun. makes me wish i could play the guitbox.

broken social scene - specifically, the song, "lover's spit." when it comes on in the car at night i make everybody be revrent so we can listen to it really loud and get the full effect. mmmm.

bon iver - changed my life. especially "re:stacks" and "for emma, for ever ago" he recorded it in a cabin in the woods by himself. he simply chopped wood and made pretty music all day.

rogue wave - their first album, out of the shadow. rogue wave always fits. even if they have broken my heart three times this year with concert cancellations.

sufjan stevens - the illinois album. he is nice for summer and road tripping and nature.

and tonight, as i was trying to shake a mood, i listened to "staralfur" by sigur ros, and i was so content. so that rounds it off.

sorry for the unfocusedness.

I would like to go on record that it was Mr. Holland, and not, as erroneously reported, Mr. Lund who introduced you to Joanna Newsom. Also, I think Sigur Ros is coming to Salt Lake soon, within the next few months.
