i seem to be developing a trend with belle and sebastian song title blog titles.
ahem.
in other news i have taken up a new hobby called not being able to sleep at night. sleeping is a talent of mine, i usually don't have many struggles with it. as of late, however i've taken to staring at the ceiling a lot. my ceiling in rexburg is much less interesting than my ceiling at home, mind you. there are no glow in the dark stars.
it finally snowed in rexburg today. i was kind of anti-snow for awhile but at least this makes the cold somewhat worth it/not intensely ugly. i still wear all the same clothes i just put more of them on top of eachother. at the moment i am wearing two undershirts, a thermal shirt, and a hoodie. when i venture to class i will put on two jackets. maybe one.
one of my friends in my french class asked me why i wasn't used to it, wasn't i from utah? isn't it cold there? i explained to her that the extent of my time spent outside in the winter was the walk from my car in the parking lot to school. i was rarely outside, and if i was it was by choice for an activity like sledding.
i do like winter right now though. in december, winter is good. by january, i'll be okay if it suddenly turns to sixty degrees and mostly cloudy.
interesting, yes?
oooooh yeah.
anyway: life decisions. as of right now i am mostly sure that i am going to transfer to byu. i will have my associates after next semester, so all of my generals will automatically transfer. two of my roommates are going on missions, and the other one is thinking of transferring to byu as well. so, i would be starting over next fall. the thought of starting over with random roommates in rexburg again does not appeal to me at all. i figure as long as i'm starting over i might as well start over somewhere new. like provo. because it is so different and exotic.
yeah well...
yeah.
uh, dear family: i miss you. a lot.
oh, another one of my favorite hobbies: being in pseudo-relationships with boys leaving on missions in a few months that don't even live in the same state as me currently. one of my friends called me a drama dater. i don't know what that means or how to take it, so mostly i'm probably ignoring it.
yesterday i came to the conclusion that i'm not that smart of a kid. or that good of a student. this is why: i was in geology lab and we were supposed to be identifying different characterisitics of shorelines, how they got that way, look through these crazy glasses that make pictures 3-d, etc. etc. as usual i sat in the back, texting (i know. i know..) and eating mini wheats. after the teacher was finished drawing stuff on the board and talking about clam chowder i started my lab. this means i stared at the maps i had, stared at my worksheet, stared at the girl next to me, then returned to staring at my book. i looked around a lot. i read the vocabulary, and tried to make sense of some of the questions. mostly i had no idea what was going on. there is a TA in there who i always ask for help but today for some reason i could not bring myself to ask a question. i just stared a lot. one by one, people started finishing and leaving. i still just stared and didn't ask for help. the TA kept making eye contact with me, waiting for me to ask a question. but i didn't. after awhile i just left.
i'm not a good question asker. and that is a problem. because not only is that what makes a good student, it's what makes a good teacher. which is my supposed profession of choice. i don't know if it's that i'm prideful? or i just don't care about geology? (true.) anyway i went on this big kick when i got home about how i'm good at acquiring what i need to to pass tests (unless it's french. then i'm mostly just good at staring and being panicked and that's about it), but i really really need to start learning. i think i do when it comes to classes i care about and are interested in... which equals my english class.
anyway. i don't know. that didn't really have a point i suppose.
go listen to the belle and sebastian "the life pursuit" album. or joe purdy. both will make your life quite dreamy.
