i'm engaged. i'm engaged without a question of wanting to be so. it's something i feel like i should write down, journal, record every feeling i've had in the past week. the past four months. the past two years. seems kind of daunting.
being in love is generally something i avoid writing about. i feel like it always comes off as cliche, corny, or contrived. i spend a good amount of my time blog-stalking, and i've seen my share of married blogs good and bad. sometimes internet pda makes me feel like i have this ideal to live up to. of writing about the MOST PERFECT HUBBY EVER OMG hE'S SERIOUSLY THE BEST GUYZZ :D :D :D. then i read others that really capture how it actually feels to be in love. to make a decision that nobody is ever really ready to make but you do it anyway. laura, a lovely friend i met in london for example, describes it quite accurately.
the boy that i met in passing in rexburg. who looked me up and e-mailed me while i was in london. who i lived without for nine months. who wrote me a letter that began one of the happiest summers of my life. falling in love was not as hard as i tried to make it be in the past. no he's not perfect. but he's perfect for me. realizing the difference between those two things has made all the difference.
i don't know how i'm supposed to feel. but i know i feel happy, safe, and sure.
in the last year that edward sharpe song has been a popular one to describe feeeeeeeelings and relationships.
home is wherever i'm with you.
it's always been my favorite analogy for love. home. and now it's true for me. with weston is where i feel at home. the one person who i feel knows me the best, has seen and been through the very best and worst of me and loves me still. the person who inspires me everyday to be a better person. to be a little kinder, a little more patient, a little less selfish. perfect for me.

No Alison, you describe it accurately. Though I'm flattered that you remembered my crazy thoughts.
Being engaged (and married) is a funny thing. Awesome, but funny nonetheless. Don't ask me what I mean by funny. I'm not sure I know.
I'm happy for you. Enjoy the roller coaster.
AHHHHHH! OMG you are MARRYING UR BEST FRIEND 4eva! you guyz are the cutest couple ever. You guys are totally perfect for each other and so cute!!! <3 !?!?!!!!
my bit of sarcasm for you.
xoxo
i love this. and i love what your friend wrote too. i love that there are people in this world that are eloquent enough to write down what i've felt so exactly that it makes me cry, because i can't do that for myself.
i have to say that it surprised me when the decision to get married was so normal. "happy, safe, and sure" is exactly how it felt. and it still feels that way. even on the hard days.
also, i hate it when people are always bragging about their BEST HUBBY EVER OMGZZZ. mostly because i know they're wrong because mine is better but i have enough tact to not announce it to the world. so i'm glad you said that.
ANYWAYS. blah blah blah. all this to say thank you for writing this. i'm really happy for you and i'm glad that you found home. congratulations cousin!
Very, very sweet, Al.
i love how you describe it. it's perfect.
