ONE - yeasayer
oh hey.
yesterday was my last day of class as an undergrad. i listened to nothing but the above song on said day.
in my last class my notes looked like this:
yup. definitely ready to be an adult.
it was a very good semester. this is easy for me to say right now because grades won't be released for a few weeks. i loved my classes. this semester expanded my mind in a lot of ways. this is thanks to the excellent professors i was lucky enough to have. and by excellent professors i mean kristin matthews and james ford. serious thanks to dr. matthews. she's been a fantastic mentor. helped me navigate the rough start of the semester/sudden change of major/begging professors to let me add classes two weeks into the semester.
thanks to all the crazies and non-crazies in my classes.
i really do wish we had yearbooks. if we did i would write things like this.
to the boy i'm in love with based purely on looks in my critical theory class:
you pull off styles i otherwise have very little patience for on boys. i.e. v-necks (just a little v), rolled up pants, parted hair. you're beautiful and you should know it. when you talk, i am less interested. i know we'd never work out. you're beautiful and i'm just sneakers in the bleachers. just sit over there in your nonchalant hand-on-your-face way looking good, and it's enough.
to the know-it-all who over-accessorizes:
you are smart. we know it. you are not smarter than the teacher. i wish you knew it. i'm sure you are nice enough. go easy on the hemp bracelets.
to kayla:
without you, i might have slept through a lot more of that class. thanks for laughing at my snotty comments. and remember that day when you brought me monster cookies? i can never convey to you how much i loved that. you are a wonderful person.
to rachel from 495:
always secretly admired you. you are so smart. your comments are so perceptive. i'm glad we got to be sort of friends; i needed someone to make side comments to in that class.
to the ginger boy from 495:
i didn't like you at first. but in the end i felt like we'd developed some kind of camaraderie. like when you tied the useless comment i made back into the class discussion. thanks.
to carlyn from the essay class:
you're hilarious. you say everything i am thinking but wouldn't say out loud in that ridiculous class full of crazy people.
to zac from essay class:
thanks for nothing on that group presentation.
to evan from essay class:
i feel that you are my bff, and we've hardly talked. thanks for the gummy bears.
to the boy in my d&c class who started writing in your journal in german because you thought i was reading it:
i was. i'm sorry. i snooped.
to all of the beautiful people of the 5th floor of the library:
i know you'll never accept me what with my dell laptop, boy t-shirts, noise-cancellation earphones, and probably grumpy expression. i'm okay with that. thanks for letting me crash your party everyday anyway.
to the twilight zone convenience store in the wilk:
you kept me alive. thank you for your asiago cheese bagels and smoothie juice drinks.
to byu:
it's been real. i finally feel like i understand you. i know at least a few more buildings than the jfsb and jkb. i have a study place in the library. i know people in my major. i know professors. i've even learned how to navigate your ridiculous website (you could learn some things from byu-i in that department). i feel at home in provo. it's creepy to me too, but it finally happened.
i graduate in 10 days.
it will never feel real.

My life is complete. You understand BYU.
Oh my gosh it is a dark day for BYU to lose a cougar like yourself. BYU yearbooks are too genius.
London love to be happening in T minus a few days.
Come see yeasayer on the 23rd with me! You can tell me all about what it's like to be graduated and I will whine about my torturous last week of class...hooray!
i'm surprised you know that many people in your classes. i've gone to school for three years with these people, and don't know most of their names. i suppose that says something about my personality...
