panic at the fact that i leave london in just over four weeks. one of those weeks will be spent in paris (next week!) i have found a new home in london and a family of sorts at the london centre (awwww). panic at returning to real life. panic at not doing every possible thing i want to do in london, of having regrets that i didn't do everything i could have. today was a lot of panic. so i am going to do something everyday worth documenting.
guilt that i haven't been better about documenting the last three months of my life.
today i after classes, i went with rebbie, anna, and michelle early to the imperial war museum. we met the rest of the class there and went through the james bond exhibit which was pretty average. afterwards, anna and i went upstairs to go through the holocaust exhibit. it was one of the more intense, moving, and emotional experiences i've had in london in the past few weeks. we spent over two hours there, reading the stories, watching the videos, and seeing the horrifying photos. i got literally sick thinking about the horror these people had to live through. honestly, it just made me think about how little we know as Americans of this kind of suffering. our country knows very little to nothing about having a war waged on our own lands, on the kind of suffering and persecution that faces so many in the world everyday. it's crazy to me how relatively recently all of this took place. people are still alive that lived through it all.
i don't know. kind of a downer of a post and an experience that is hard for me to relate without appearing insincere or corny. it was a good afternoon though.
we got home late for dinner, so we got to eat out in the dining hall with the faculty. we talked with them about the wars and the holocaust. i love the faculty here. professor wimmer (grandpa wimmer or g dub), dr. paul (d paul) and professor benfell (pro benf) (....yes. there are 41 girls here and yes we give simply adorable but hip nicknames to all of the faculty members...whether or not they are aware of them). anyway they are fantastic, and i love talking to them.
the last few hours of my life have been spent studying for our humanities test and writing a humanities paper.
soooooooooo awesome.
cheers,
alison
