gold teeth and a curse for this town were all in my mouth, only i don't know how they got out, dear

i'm an expert in nostalgia.
today i have a ph.d

ahem:
SO
today in rexburg, there was a hurricane. i made a poor choice in footwear. pink ballet flats. backless. best idea ever. i had a lot of slipping close calls (especially on the thick sheet of ice next to the dorms behind the mc and smith) but i remained upright.

i aced my french quiz. je suis awesome.
i didn't understand anything that went on the rest of class.
if you have ever seen better off dead, picture the math class scene. the teacher is making math jokes and everyone in the class is roaring with laughter, in on all the mathematical humor, except for john cusack who is in the back trying to pry gum out of his homework. that is how i feel in french.

also had a lot of tributes to president hinckley today. ah what an amazing man. i don't know, lately it has just become more and more apparent to me how vital the gospel is. it is (besides my family) the one and only true constant in my life.

i love creative writing class. sometimes i get intimidated by people in that class who are much better writers than i. but when i spend two hours trying to write a sonnet and grin everytime i think of a better word, i am reminded why i am an english major. because i'm a nerd.

here is what i have so far for my sonnet:

What he said

Oh still your soon, in time, becomes a now.

Like earnest thoughts on every collar worn

waiting to wring weak hearts which, soaking, plow

through words that wish a walk before they’re born.

Some things are never still when left unsaid,

forcing through mediums frayed at the seams.

Young boys’ lapels pinned down by words undead,

weeping flora whose musk for hours gleams.

Wisps of lights not held up by tape collapse

burning out the bulbs of ideas unchanged.

Maturity begs out sincere thoughts smashed

by younger minds forcing things out deranged.

Dear thoughts blow through the porthole closed before

Evading your delay, they rot no more.

sometimes i get frustrated with writing.
