i've got scarves and caps and sweaters

provo.

provo is just one big sheet of ice. i ate it (hip slang for a humiliating fall on the ice. you're welcome mom) in my apartment complex parking lot (complete with ramps that nobody can get their cars up because they're covered in ice).

having to dig out my car... that means a nice boy in my ward who dug out my car while i watched.

i really am not a huge fan of winter. i have no proper footwear for this. the only boots i have are incredibly useless on ice. i've never been more stressed than when i was walking to class today trying to hurry but having to take baby steps to avoid falling.

i would go so far as to say i do not enjoy winter at all. here's hoping it isn't still snowing in may like it was last year.

but thank you the sun for coming out today and melting stuff.

otherwise: reality. job, school, obligations, responsibilities, poor, starvation, sleep depravation, living and rekindling with mackattack, making friends, having friends from london, being social, talking to boys (ha) college is wild. simply wild.

i think i am experiencing culture shock. like when i was sitting in the wilk yesterday watching people (whilst sharing a couch with the most adorable engaged couple) and they started a karaoke battle. that's all. though this mormoncultureawkwardness is entertaining. i do get a lot of opportunities to people watch.

sort of though it feels like i've been going here and living in grandma's house (the name for our apartment) for years. it's magical to play with friends and do my own thin. though i still don't know how to get to the grocery store.

this semester is going to be potentially stressful/incredibly busy, but i am excited about the classes i'm taking. my job at the alpine center in american fork is very very non-stressful compared to the salt lake office. that is a relief. i just sit here by myself. file stuff. call people. answer phones. sit.

byu is kind of intense. not overwhemingly so, but there is definitely a different atmosphere. i'm starting to feel this underlying sense of panic because people here at byu have goals and know what they want to do with their lives. i do not. i just keep going to school. my new years resolution is to know by the end of the year what i want to do/how i'm going to do it. ideally i hope i know this before next year. before i graduate. blah blah blah.

oh alison! i had the EXACT same thoughts and was actually just about to blog about them...a girl went down hardcore today right in front of me. it's terrifying. i'm sorry about the byu intensity. can't you feel it in the air? too much perfection all in one place. oh and the married people...gahhh get over your love for each other already. gosh i wish i could see you on campus :( boo. anyway i miss and love you. here's to single blogging.

i have a hard time believing that winters in provo are any worse than winters in rexburg. i remember one winter semester in r-burg that i slipped/fell four times in one day. three of those times were consecutive--i got up, took a step and slipped again. pretty much i looked like a cartoon, i'm sure. --get some proper footwear, dork. if mom won't say it (which i'm sure she will) then i will. love you. and i agree byu/provo can be a bit of a culture shock. have you got your passport yet? is the a ridiculously long comment or what?!?

Snow is cool until Christmas. Maybe a little bit around the New Year. But by now it is old news.

And I'll agree, Provo is a culture shock.
