if i could do just one near perfect thing

happy my 50th post. in one year. sad kind of. i'm bad at blogging oh well. i suppose i'm over it.

so i used to be able to write creatively. i think this hails back to the time when i also used to emote all over the place. i struggle now. i think of at least five billion things (at least) during the day that i could write about. most of these things occur to me while i'm:
a. driving in the car (i do this a lot now. forty minute commute everyday. i like to drop that number whenever i can. it makes me sound impressive. i mean come on, i'm a commuter)
b. in the shower
c. making up stories about people that come into the office/fellow receptionists

however. none of these times are especially convenient for writing. driving a stick i have limited hands, in the shower things get wet, and i never have time to think between writing memos and trying to articulate the sentence "psychological services, this is alison" into the phone in some comprehendable way, much less take the time to wax poetic.

by the time i get home to my computer i've let things sink in that are much less poetic like renewing library books and needing more chewing gum. i probably feel sorry for myself here and there, rush off to some activity with a comrade, or watch a documentary on the television until it's about 10, at which time my day is finished and i go to bed.

so, that is my long-winded excuse of why i have not written. also because everything i'm thinking right now has been talked about at least three times over with each person that reads this blog. so i don't know what to say anymore i guess. i repeat myself a lot. but through all this talking i've finally come to accepting and i've found some sort of routine. people aren't a huge part of my routine. which is different. they come and go in and out of it, and i'm getting used to that too.

i have a new goal that i just came up with. i'm going to figure out what avant-garde really means. also what avant-folk is. avant is before in french. so is it like the opposite of post (as in post-hardcore)? i have a vague idea of it. like i know animal collective is probably considered avant garde. so does that just mean crazy "jammy" (my new favorite adjective) music? is joanna newsom avant-folk? these are things i'm trying to get to the bottom of. also i've been looking for some new piece of almost useless information to study to use as a conversation piece if i'm feeling pretentious. and this. is it.

sitting outside is nice. so nice. i cannot even explain how much more i love summer than winter. there is no comparison. especially considering that this winter seemed like it might never end. i have had a couple of really good conversations whilst sitting outside in the last couple of days. and right now i'm sitting on a contraption of a chair on my deck typing this. and it is nice. except i think i'm getting eaten alive by bugs.

i love my parents. just let it be known. that i do. a lot.
i also love church.
and getting new shampoo/conditioner
and ridiculous glass water bottles from norway
and almond mocha fudge ice cream (don't judge me)
and summer nights
and driving with the windows down
and the song "girl" by the beatles
and the fact that i'm wearing shorts for the first time in years

fin.
