and all day long we talk about mercy

i have decided that being a grown up (a reoccurring theme in my thinking and writing if you haven't noticed) means faking it.
faking it is generally thought of in a really negative context, but i'm not sure that in this case it always is.
it's just different.

faking like stuff doesn't get to you. faking like you don't want to say the million things you've been thinking. faking like you don't want to poke someone in the eye. faking like you know what you're doing.

because the more you fake it, the truer it becomes. whether you've just convinced yourself of it or it starts to happen out of practice. or you can't really tell the difference anymore.

(i'm not going to sleep on the couch again, and i'm not going to sleep with ear plugs. that is ridiculous. just lower your voice)

(i will not fake like that doesn't bug me.)

also, there is no 'a' in definitely.

Sometimes we call it faking it. Sometimes we call it letting go. Either way, its painful, and, like most things grownup, also enlightening and liberating. Believe it or not, its part of the plan...and it works.

I hope that doesn't sound preachy. It wasn't meant to. Sometimes when I wax philosophical it sounds better in my head than in print.

You've got it. Jewls said it - the best advice I've ever received was "Fake it till you make it."

I'm wondering at what point we make it.
